

Truly Fantastic Murch Craftsmanship
We have seen some beautiful Murch items come up for auction this year and this is up there at the top of my wish list. Coming up for auction today is a 19th Century naval officer's sword and brass mounted leather scabbard by E Murch of Kings Street Devonport with ray skin hilt, lion pommel and brass guard, 75cm blade, with a similar French naval sword with leather scabbard, 81cm blade. Coming up for auction in Ireland on the 4th of July is a Murch bucket, made in Glastonbury. Who would have thought that a bucket could be so interesting! This steel, traditionally shaped bucket was probably made in the late 19th/very early 20th century and has possibly been kicking around for over 100 years. Now, it is looking for a new home and perhaps one of you Murch descendants would like to own it. It is valued at £35-40 and it's starting bid is currently at £20. So


The Murch DNA Research Project
In the last few years DNA research and testing has become commonplace with Ancestry and various other research sites offering DNA tests in order to track and trace ancestors and possible relatives. In an attempt to try to marry up the research into the Murch history and ancestry, I would be keen to find Murch's who have had their DNA tested and would be happy to share the results.
