Remarkable Murch Silver For Auction

On the 26th of January a remarkable piece of Murch Silver comes up for auction in London estimated at a value of £3-5,000. The description on Elmwoods Auctioneers website reads:

A rare antique George I Provincial West Country Sterling Silver coffee pot by John Murch I of Plymouth & Tiverton, hallmarked for Exeter 1725. The tapering, cylindrical body on a flat base with stepped border, with a faceted spout and scrolling wooden handle fitted to the side. The piece has a domed hinged lid and features an engraved baroque armorial to the body. Height 24.5cm / 9.75". Gross weight 660g / 21.25 troy oz.
